Consultancy

Experienced and highly qualified IHSS sterile solutions managers help customers develop the most appropriate sterilisation procedures for their businesses.

Procedure Packs

Sunlight Clinical Solutions is the UK’s leading supplier of customer procedure trays (CPTs). A CPT is a single sterile presentation of all the surgical products required for a specific surgical procedure including sponges, blades, swabs, dressings, drapes and specialist components. Studies have shown that hospitals which introduce CPTs make considerable cost savings and reduce the risk of infection. IHSS adds to these benefits by providing packs which include the CPT and the reusable instruments required for the procedure.

Instrumentation

Drawing upon its extensive experience in the filed, IHSS will source instruments for customer, whether to replace items that are worn beyond economic repair or to meet the need for new sets or complete new services.

In addition to theatre instruments, IHSS has the ability to supply a range of instrumentation for all clinical requirements including Podiatry, Family Planning, and other clinic based services.

Containerisation

IHSS has an in-depth knowledge of the requirements for the provision of containers for Sterile Operating Theatre instrumentation.
Whilst the provision of sterile instrumentation is achieved predominantly using approved wrapping materials from wet laid, spun bonded to SMS single or double layers we also have in-depth knowledge of specialised containers.

We can also offer our exclusive AlcoBan® reusable Tray Wrap that is strong, compliant with ISO 11607 and virtually elimnates torn wraps.

IHSS will work with the Customer to audit the current instrument inventory, from this data a schedule of requirements for a conversion to containers will be drawn up and provided for the Customer.

IHSS can work with the Customer to procure the Customer’s preferred Container system or we can use our purchasing resource to provide cost effective solutions.

To aid the Customer with the management of the instrument migration from Edinburgh type tray presentation to a container presentation IHSS will provide experienced personnel who will work closely with the theatre and sterile service staff to ensure a smooth transition. IHSS will provide teaching sessions for the Theatre Staff to understand the difference in presentation and differences in the sterile field when using a container format for instrumentation.

Sterile Service staff will be provided with teaching sessions to make them aware of the requirements for satisfactory processing when using containers, to include filter changing, filter monitoring, seal monitoring, label affixing, security tag affixing etc.
A complete range of containers are available from small ophthalmology sets to large general and specialised instrument sets (orthopaedic, arterial, etc)

Low Temp Steralisation

For low temperature items sterilisation is provided by Sunlight’s high speed electron beam steriliser. This unit is one of only 2 in the UK and represents one of the fastest and most robust sterilisation methods available, with turnaround in a matter of hours rather than the days associated with typical ETO processes.

Vapourised Hydrogen Peroxide (VHP) Technology

VHP systems provide a rapid, safe and low-temperature decontamination method for enclosed areas that are contaminated with micro-organisms, including spore-forming bacteria.

VHP systems are used for decontamination of airborne or surface contaminants, including; rooms, room¹s contents (including electrical/electronic equipment), duct work and filters in environments including Hospital Wards and Ambulances.

Air Disinfection Unit (ADU)

The Air Disinfection Unit is currently providing safe protection from airborne infection in NHS hospitals. It has been proven to kill 99.999% of bacteria and viruses within its operating area in less than one hour, and is being used to counter MRSA, c.diff and Norovirus. The ADU replicates the natural germ killing properties of the outdoor environment and is completely safe to operate with personnel present.

Dotsure

Dotsure has been developed by IHSS to enable marking of surgical instruments as part of the outsourcing of decontamination services within England. The key advantages of Dotsure are to maintain traceability of instruments throughout the decontamination process ensuring instruments stay with the same set and are returned to the correct customer.

Tracking of high risk items and high value items enables the close control of the instruments’ location at all times. Dotsure enables instruments that may pose a risk of Prions being past from patient to patient to be traced throughout the process. With high value items the customer has to utilise the scarce resource to its maximum. Therefore these items can be monitored with reports on usage and locations being provided to the customer.

Dotsure provides a permanent mark on defined individual instruments which can be scanned into T-DOC to create a GS1-UK compatible code.
