IHSS’s Decontamination Service gives the North West London Decontamination Project a fully compliant service which offers value for money and wholly meets the customers’ requirements. Both Decontamination Centres are registered to ISO 13485, ISO 9001 and Directive 93/42/EEC. These accredited facilities improve patient safety, which is the declared aim of the National Decontamination Strategy.
These two new, modern Decontamination Centres supported by state-of-the-art IM&T systems and robust logistics operations provide full traceability of trays and supplementary items (and, if required to individual instrument level).

The two new facilities at, South Ruislip and Park Royal incorporate state-of-the-art process equipment including indexing washer disinfectors, double door sterilizers, trolley washers, reverse osmosis and water conservation features. The new Decontamination Centres have high resilience to external factors such as the loss of utilities. This is achieved through stand-by generators, uninterruptible power supplies, water storage tanks, dual fuel steam generating plant and a high level of redundancy in process equipment. IHSS has paid particular attention to those areas of the working environment and staff facilities in order to provide a modern flexible working environment. The design of the Centres also allow for the installation of additional process equipment to accommodate future growth from the initial NHS customers and for the inclusion of new customers. IHSS has implemented their tried and tested quality system to the latest standards: BS EN ISO 13485 and MDD93/42/EEC. The quality system is based on real experience of running decontamination centres to these standards.
